Community Emergency Plan Overview

The Parish Council has produced a Community Emergency Plan (CEP) which lays out the action that would be taken in the event of an emergency. The main aim of the plan would be to try and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the parish residents, including their properties and businesses. It concentrates on how parish representatives can liaise with outside agencies that may be involved in any given emergency, so that a coordinated and effective response can be made. It is important to stress that it does not replace the role of the emergency services, but aims to help those organisations carry out their work efficiently with clear lines of communication.

As part of the process of enabling the Parish Council to carry out this work, the parish itself has been split into 6 sections (click here for interactive map)

It is intended that one resident will act as the focus for each section in reporting any issues back to the Co-ordinator of the CEP in the event of an emergency. For example, if a storm caused prolonged electricity cuts, the section representative would be expected to report any difficulties that some vulnerable residents may have as a result of the electricity outage. The Co-ordinator would then be in a position to call on available resources at the disposal of the Parish Council in order to address these difficulties. Consequently, the Parish Council is looking for a volunteer who is a resident in each of the sections to take on the role of liaison with the CEP co-ordinator in the event of an emergency.
